Mahogany (pye kajou) — Swietenia mahagoni, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Fever, inflammation, skin conditions, wounds, respiratory, diarrhea

Prepared as

Bark decoction: boil small piece of bark in 2 cups water 15 minutes, drink half cup daily for fever and diarrhea. Leaf tea: boil handful 10 minutes for inflammation and respiratory complaints. Bark powder applied to wounds as antiseptic. Seed oil applied to dry skin and scalp. Leaf poultice applied to painful joints and swellings. Use bark preparations for 2 weeks maximum.
