⚠ Poisonous — documented here for recognition and caution, never for home use. Every part of lily-of-the-valley carries potent cardiac glycosides (chiefly convallatoxin) that force the heart the way foxglove does; the whole plant, its water, and even the berries can poison. It belongs only to physician-managed, standardised pharmacy preparations — historically for heart failure, and largely superseded in modern Western medicine. Do not prepare or take it at home — the margin between effect and poisoning is unforgiving.
