Traditionally used

LEAVES: Anti-inflammatory (arthritis, gout adjunct), diuretic, nutritive (iron, vitamin C). Topical: eczema, joint pain. ROOT: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms.

Zòtye (zòti) se plant ki pouse nan mòn Ayiti a. Soup zòtye itilize tradisyonèlman kòm tonik pou "san fèb" (anemi) ak fatig. Fèy yo rich nan fè ak vitaminn — itilize kòm manje medikal. Kèk pratisyen tradisyonèl rekòmande li pou doulè atrikilè. L'ortie pousse dans les régions montagneuses d'Haïti; la soupe d'ortie est un tonique traditionnel pour "san fèb" (anémie) et la fatigue; les feuilles sont consommées comme aliment médicinal riche en fer.

LEAVES: Flavonoids, phenolic acids, lectins — anti-inflammatory. Iron, vitamin C, calcium. ROOT: Polysaccharides, lectins, sterols — inhibit SHBG binding, 5-alpha-reductase inhibition (BPH).
