Love vine (Liane amitié)

Traditionally used

A leafless golden vine that drapes over coastal scrub like tangled thread. A decoction is taken as a diuretic and for the kidneys and, in Caribbean practice, for the hair and scalp. ⚠ It holds active alkaloids — a measured decoction, not prolonged use. Avoid in pregnancy, and be sure of the host plant before harvest — the vine can take up the host's toxins.

Kreyòl — ankouraje diyrez ak sipòte ren (enfizyon tij); soulaje pwoblèm irinè; ede chevi pouse epi trete pelikil (poud + lwil, aplike sou po); soulaje gratèl ak egzema; itilize kòm tonik anmè

Français — Liane dorée sans feuilles qui drape le fourré côtier comme un fil emmêlé. Une décoction se prend comme diurétique et pour les reins et, dans la pratique caribéenne, pour les cheveux et le cuir chevelu. ⚠ Elle renferme des alcaloïdes actifs — décoction mesurée, pas d'usage prolongé. À éviter pendant la grossesse, et vérifier la plante-hôte avant la récolte — la liane peut absorber les toxines de son hôte.
