Whitemouth dayflower — Commelina erecta, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Traditionally used

A blue-flowered dayflower of moist ground, its stems full of a cooling mucilage. The sap and crushed plant soothe burns, wounds, and inflamed eyes, and an infusion is taken as a mild diuretic.
