Traditionally used
Canadian fleabane — an astringent herb once used to stem bleeding (it stood in for ergot in wartime) and to settle simple diarrhoea. A weak decoction (about 5 g per litre) is taken by the spoonful for loose bowels and light bleeding, and it has a folk name as a worming herb. ⚠ Heavy or lasting menstrual or uterine bleeding is never a thing to self-treat — it must be seen by a doctor to rule out serious causes, especially around and after menopause.

Français — Vergerette du Canada — une herbe astringente autrefois employée pour arrêter les saignements (elle remplaça l'ergot en temps de guerre) et pour calmer une diarrhée simple. Une décoction légère (environ 5 g par litre) se prend par cuillerées contre le relâchement intestinal et les saignements légers, et elle porte un nom populaire de vermifuge. ⚠ Un saignement menstruel ou utérin abondant ou durable ne se traite jamais soi-même — il doit être vu par un médecin pour écarter une cause sérieuse, surtout autour et après la ménopause.
