Creeping thistle — Cirsium arvense, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Traditionally used

⚠ Avoid in known Asteraceae (daisy-family) allergy. A root or leaf decoction is used in Balkan folk tradition as a mild liver and digestive support and a gentle diuretic; the young leaves and stalks are also eaten as a spring green. An astringent leaf poultice is applied to minor skin inflammation.
