Traditionally used

Berberis has been traditionally used to support liver and gallbladder function, particularly for digestive complaints and bile production. Its antimicrobial properties make it valuable for infections, while its bitter compounds help stimulate digestion and reduce fever.

Prepared as

The inner bark or root bark is prepared as a decoction by simmering 1-2 teaspoons of dried bark in water for 10-15 minutes. Can also be prepared as an alcohol tincture for concentrated use.
