Traditionally used

A soothing, expectorant mullein — the golden flowers taken as an infusion for dry cough, hoarseness, and bronchial catarrh, their mucilage calming irritated airways. ⚠ Always strain through fine cloth: the tiny hairs and a haemolytic saponin can irritate the throat. Close relative of common mullein (Verbascum thapsus).
