Water mint — Mentha aquatica, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Traditionally used

Water mint is the peppermint of wet ground and carries much the same gifts, though its oil holds little menthol. A hot infusion of the leaves calms the digestion, easing wind, cramp, and a sluggish stomach. Where peppermint is wanted and not to hand, this mint stands in for it well.

In three languages
