Prepared as

The leaves are typically prepared as a decoction by boiling 6-8 fresh leaves in 2 cups of water for 15-20 minutes until the liquid reduces by half. For diabetes management, drink 1/4 cup of the cooled tea three times daily before meals. The bark can also be prepared similarly, using a small handful of inner bark pieces boiled for 20-25 minutes, then strained and consumed as 2-3 tablespoons twice daily for diarrhea or dysentery.
