Prepared as

The leaves and young shoots are typically prepared as a hot water infusion by boiling 2-3 tablespoons of fresh plant material in 2 cups of water for 10-15 minutes, then allowing to steep for an additional 5 minutes before straining. This tea is consumed warm, taking 1/2 to 1 cup twice daily for digestive issues, anemia, or as a general tonic. The fresh leaves can also be crushed and applied directly as a poultice to wounds or skin irritations, or the whole plant may be boiled into a concentrated decoction for external washes.
