Traditionally used

Purple loosestrife has been traditionally used as an astringent remedy for digestive complaints including diarrhea and dysentery. The herb is also applied externally to wounds and skin conditions due to its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties.

Prepared as

Traditionally prepared as a decoction by simmering 1-2 teaspoons of dried aerial parts in boiling water for 10-15 minutes. For external use, a stronger decoction is applied as a compress or wash to affected areas.
