Pedunculate oak — Quercus robur, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Traditionally used

Oak bark — a strong astringent from its tannins. A short decoction is used externally for weeping skin, haemorrhoids, and inflamed gums and throat (rinse or sitz bath), and briefly for acute diarrhoea. ⚠ No more than a couple of cups a day and not long-term; the tannins bind iron and other medicines.

In three languages
