Prepared as

Leaf tea: boil handful in 2 cups water 10 minutes, drink half cup twice daily for fever and respiratory complaints. Crushed fresh leaves applied as poultice to bruises, wounds, and inflamed skin. Leaf juice diluted with water used as eye wash for irritation. Purple sap from leaves used directly on cuts to promote clotting and healing.
