Traditionally used

⚠ Not for pregnancy, high blood pressure, or heart/kidney conditions — glycyrrhizin can raise blood pressure and deplete potassium; avoid prolonged daily use. Traditionally treasured to soothe dry coughs and irritated throats and to protect the stomach lining.

Prepared as

The dried root is prepared as a decoction by simmering 1-2 teaspoons in hot water for 10-15 minutes, then strained and consumed warm. It can also be prepared as a cold water extraction or alcohol tincture for longer-term storage.
