Heartleaf sida — Sida cordifolia, used in Haitian and Caribbean herbal tradition

Traditionally used

A soft-leaved roadside mallow long used for the breath — a decoction for asthma, bronchitis, and congestion — and as an anti-inflammatory for aching joints. ⚠ The plant contains ephedrine: it stimulates the heart and raises blood pressure, and must not be used in heart conditions, in pregnancy, or alongside stimulants. Its ephedrine is banned for sale (US FDA / EU); this use belongs with a practitioner, never a home preparation.

In three languages

Kreyòl — soulaje opresyon ak bwonchit (alkaloyid ki louvri bwonch); soulaje jwenti ki fè mal ak enflamasyon; itilize kòm tonik ("Bala") — men rete anba restriksyon
