Scurvy-grass — a sharp, vitamin-C-rich spring green once carried against scurvy. Eaten fresh, as diluted juice, or in a syrup, traditionally as a depurative, diuretic, and antirheumatic tonic. Use the fresh plant; heat destroys its virtue.

Français — Cochléaria — verdure de printemps piquante, riche en vitamine C, jadis portée contre le scorbut. Consommée fraîche, en jus dilué ou en sirop, traditionnellement comme dépuratif, diurétique et tonique antirhumatismal. Employer la plante fraîche; la chaleur en détruit la vertu.
